with Ward Stare, music
director Ward Stare returns to Brockport to conduct the RPO in a program that
includes Stravinksy’s The
Firebird. This was the composer’s first large-scale work for
orchestra, which propelled him into being an international sensation. The
program also features two works by Lili Boulanger, whose career skyrocketed
when she became the first woman to win the Prix de Rome. The concert opens with
a misty blend of winds, strings, and brass.
